Social Game Developer To Focus On Non-profit Causes

New social gaming developer CausePlay (not to be confused with the cosplaying charity site of the same) announced its commitment to creating titles that integrate non-profit groups into its releases and raise money for the organizations.

The company's first title, Hospitopia, will launch in January. CausePlay worked with Children?s Miracle Network Hospitals, a group dedicated to raising fund and awareness for children's hospitals and foundations across North America, on the game.

In Hospitopia, players create and operate their own virtual hospital. CausePlay will donate 10 percent of Hospitopia's revenue to Children?s Miracle Network Hospitals for the life of the social game.

CausePlay has three other titles currently in production, each also funding a different cause and scheduled to launch in 2011. It will launch a Facebook promotion in March asking the public to vote on a nonprofit or cause to create a game concept around in 2012, too.

The developer is also offering marketing and branding opportunities to advertisers as part of its Cause Integration marketing tool, which is designed to enhance acquisition and consumer growth strategies.

"We believe with the sheer numbers of people playing games in the social space, creating games that generate funds for worthy causes will revolutionize the way people support and give to the causes they hold dear," says CausePlay president and founding partner Jonas Hudson.

Hudson continues, "We believe social cause games developed by CausePlay will become the standard by which brands reach, speak to, and engage customers through game play on a consistent and meaningful level."
