Namco's Next XBLA Re-Imagining Is Metro Cross?

Namco amazed us with Pac Man: Championship Edition back in 2007, and brought us Galaga Legions in the Summer of '08. While we're getting a deluxe edition of Pac Man CE sometime this year, we've not heard of what Namco might be up to next.

Would you have guessed Metro Cross? The German USK rating board has rated Metro Cross High Air GP for the Xbox 360, which in all likeliness is a XBLA sequel to the 1985 arcade title.

The original game was based in a "futuristic sports" obstacle course where you had to beat 25 running arenas while jumping over slowdown pads and giant soda cans. The future was a weird place back in the 80's.

In essence it's an extension of gameplay found in games like Excite Bike, except you're a running dude. Compared to the original game this might need a wild re-imagining.

Who knows, based on the original premise we might be seeing the first Kinect-based XBLA game.
