Fairwood Studios, a small group dedicated to adapting music from "independent and eclectic musicians" to Rock Band Network, announced that it will bring three tracks from Terry Cavanagh's gravity-bending puzzle/platformer VVVVVV to Rock Band's music download service.
The chiptune songs, which were composed by Magnus 'SoulEye' Plsson, include "Pressure Cooker" (embedded above), "Positive Force", and "Potential for Anything". Those songs and every other tune from VVVVVV are all collected in the game's official soundtrack CD, PPPPPP -- you can buy the album here.
Fairwood says these tracks are the second group of instrumental chiptunes that have been announced for the Rock Band Network, and claims they're also the largest group of tracks from a single artist of the genre and the largest sampling from a video game soundtrack.
The songs are designed to take advantage of not just the guitar, bass, and drum controllers, but the new keyboard peripheral that will be supported in Rock Band 3. Fairwood plans to release the tracks individually for $0.99 each starting in 2011.
